The tail section of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (A/C No. 239789) was damaged by enemy flak during a mission flown by the 379th Bomb Group on December 20, 1943.

  3. Not just the stabilizer but the holes in the fuselage - that tail gunner had a spicy ride.
