  1. I don't know its "story," but any structure out there that HASN'T been consumed by the blowing sand, must be something special.

  7. So where did the stone bricks and the water for the mortar come from….??

  8. The Sahara was temperate with grass prairies and trees 10,000 to 15,000 years ago supposedly before any civilization capable of building such a fort…

So was there a previous civilization before “recorded history” now extinct…?

Built by whom, when built and why are questions still unanswered…

  11. The key to its existence is seen at the base of the walls. It's the top of a hard-stone mountain or hill in the sea of shifting sand.

You build permanent structures like the fort on top of hard stone, not soft sand.

Because it is stable (nothing is ever 100% stable) it could be 100 years old, a thousand years old, 5,000 years old or more.

It may be as old as the beginning of desertification of the Sahara, which brought about the proto-civilizations of pre-Egypt.

All you need is a productive well or decent dew-trapping systems and you could make a go there.

  13. That's why I come here:
It took John Wick three movies to find this place, and CW pulls it up just randomly.
