And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I think he got away with this in that he got up and walked away. Done it twice on the road although at much lower speed. Pain long thought to be gone has returned with age.
I would've bet cash money on multiple fractures, but it looked like the gear saved him. Best thing he did was go down, rather than try and stick the landing and run it off. He would have broken both legs.
I remember seeing a driver lose the nose of his car at the Indy 500, and watching his heels sticking out the front of the car bouncing on the pavement at 190MPH, and then go into the wall, but he got up and walked away under his own power.
