  2. One of his best films. Maureen O'Hara? Well, she is Maureen O'Hara, after all!

  3. Excellent, excellent movie. One of Wayne's favorites. Shows his underappreciated acting chops.

  4. The movie was full of stereotypes about Ireland and the Irish, but I still liked it. It poked fun at things we all laugh about. It always plays on TV around St Paddy's day. (My GGgrandfather, emigrated from Ireland back just before the Civil War.)

  7. Great movie.
    Best line:
    "Impetuous, I calls it.''

  8. Ford spent the money on the Ireland exteriors and one can see where he skimped otherwise- but no one notices, really because he was a master film maker and he had a hell of a story. pro fact: the good protestant reverend was Barry's brother.

  9. ...and Barry got him the job. It's a fine movie, although both Wayne and O'Hara were about 15 years too old for the roles they were playing.

  11. My wife and I went to the town it was filmed in (Cong) and spent a couple of days there. Lovely spot. The movie actually was responsible for getting the town electricity.

If it was, red Will Danaher, not a scorched stone of your fine house would still be standing.
