And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

How much could it have cost to build that place there?
Machts nichts. The only access is airdrop, or one long, skinny bridge. With a literal ocean in between you and the neighbors. I never said it was isolated. Just secure and private.
The kind of money people like climate activists Leonardo DiCaprio make to read someone elses' lines. He just bought a big island so he's lying about rising oceans.
I think it's wonderful that the wealthy among us spend some of their wealth making beautiful places. Most of us can't, but would if we could. Leave beautiful architecture for future generation. Think European castles and cathedrals which now are virtually works of art.
Negative. McMansions require multiple ones (like a burger assembly line) in the same development. This is a standalone, in a lovely location, and it looks just like a nice spacious place. Moderately modern style.
I've designed many residential and commercial properties on islands, and several bridges. A ballpark figure for the above project would be $4mil as you see it. That same project, on normal land, would cost half as much. Keep in mind that all utilities are running through that bridge.
The proper question is:
ReplyDeleteHow much is that kind of solitude and security worth to you?
(Not to mention the unbeatable view.)
That camera angle is deceiving, that place isn't as isolated as you might think. There's a noisy metropolis just beyond the right side.

How much? If you gotta ask, you can't afford it....
ReplyDeleteWorth it if that's a drawbridge.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know where it is located?
ReplyDeleteEnter 'Island Cres, Newquay, UK' on Google Maps.
DeleteOnly the government could afford that place.

Less than it cost to dig that moat around it.

DeleteGood question. Maybe a low tide concrete walkway to that other rock but it's at high tide?

ReplyDeleteSure, but that place looks like a McMansion.

DeleteThe contractors would be pulling in some big bucks.

Once you look at the view there really isn't much to do. Can't fish or boat. Take a hike? Read a book.

ReplyDeleteModest house, easy to build from a carpenter. Only getting materials there is the trick.
ReplyDelete$5,062.00 for 3 days, 3 nights in mid July 2023.
ReplyDeleteThat pik is in high tide.
When the tide is out there is long beach all around it.
That is at high tide.
ReplyDeleteAt low tide, you can walk right up to the “island”.
Right. And then just scale the 60-80' cliff face. Easy peasey.
