    1. The Japanese longbow is of simpler construction than many other premodern bows. It is asymmetrical because the length needed to get enough power would make a symmetrical bow unwieldy. Japanese bows can be used kneeling or from horseback. I am fortunate that my workplace has a kyudojo that I can practice at occasionally.
