And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Assuming there's a good pistol and flashlight on the nightstand and a 12 gauge under the bed, then I'd say it's normal. If it's only a spear, I applaud the optimism. But still normal.
Unless it's a short spear, 6' or under, or your house is very open, a spear probably isn't the best for in-home defense. Though that shorter spear has some great uses.
Well, with some practice on how to use it in close quarters combat, not a bad idea. A firearm is optimum, but some locations outlaw having a firearm to be present, even when left in domicile or hotel room. A spear is better than nothing. The Cold Steel short handled Assegai is downright scary and in the small confines of a hall, a good melee weapon.

ReplyDeleteThat's silly. The spear goes in the rack by the front door.
ReplyDeleteThe cutlass goes by the bedside; better for close-quarters fights in narrow hallways.
In Mr. Greenbaums's house the spear it's in the sky.
