And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The base of Shasta this evening, near Weed. Fresh snow, and a decent amount for September 19th. Good start to the year.
Weed was founded by a man of the same name who operated Weed Lumber Co in the early to mid 1900s. All those steam engines, slash burners and loggers and no fires.
I hope the snow helped extinguish the Mill Fire running north of Weed.
