And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I heard say from different somebodies that the most beautiful sunsets are in the South Pacific. Having seen, nay, been immersed in many beautiful sunsets, I was skeptical. Then having been in the South Pacific, I am counted among the true believers.
Mind you, not just a little bit, not by some subjective margin; but hands down the most beautiful sunsets are in the South Pacific.
Since "South Pacific" covers a few godzillion square miles, can you be more specific? I mean New Zealand and Chile are both on the South Pacific, yet I'm betting they have some different weather in places.
I used to work with a woman named Helen that was a summer ranger on the island and had been doing it for ever and a day. That was the late 80's. Don't know why I remember that.
A ranger at Emerald Bay SP I could believe, but just on Fanette Island? On a 4 acre island that's a sparse rock with no facilities of any kind only open to daytime visits, if you bring your own boat? No dogs and no camping allowed? It's not totally crazy, even by Califrutopia standards, and stranger things have happened, but it stretches belief just a wee bit. Tell us more.
My daughter was married high on a rock overlooking that spot. Just the parents in attendance (covidiocy time). It was one of the top 5 moments of this old man's life.
California is me and my wife's home state, but we moved east in 96 due to business. We met at UCLA in the late 70s and married after. Went there for our honeymoon for a week in a one bedroom apartment timeshare. We drove from Southern California up along US395 and the Sierra Nevada to Tahoe. There is nothing like the Sierra Nevada and Tahoe.
