“Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem.”
Just as well. Flying cars plus distracted driving is a recipe for disaster.
I read that as Technology Modern - Russian issue (likely Modern Mechanics knockoff?
CORRECTION: The future that never could show up under communism.
Helicopters are a viable means of transport today if you have the money... :-)
the future that has not shown up, yet. As I enter the 57th year of waiting for my Jetson-mobile. UGH.
Not that I think that our American future is certain (because I am really, really shaky on that point), but if I were Russian, I'd be more concerned about my immediate future than with that idealized future offered in the 50's and 60's. Russia is in deep, deep trouble.azlibertarian
Yep the whole world is in deep doo doo if we let the elites have their way.
Can you imagine the Russian dash cam videos from those things?
Endless military parades, marching toward the colossal Lenin edifice. Notice she's a loyal commie holding her little red book. Backseater sitting next to the shaft, not for me.That future did happen except for the personal whoppitychopters.
A nice little piece of 1949 post-war propaganda.
Think about it. Everyone has seen the vast numbers of raging morons infesting our highways....see them on a daily basis. Would you REALLY want to live in a world where individual travel was done in the air, at high speeds, far above the ground when so many raging morons would be allowed to fly rather then just drive. If you think the death toll on America's highways is bad just imaging what it would be in America's skies if everyone had access to a privately owned and operated aircraft.
Exactly.Much better to have all the drunken texting morons careening down the highway just 5' away from you, than have them spread out all over 183 billion cubic acres of US aerial real estate from 1000'-12,000' of altitude.Wait, whut?
Except they wouldn't be "spread out all over 183 billion cubic acres" (cubic acres?), they'd be concentrated in, and above, cities and towns. And when they crashed, they'd be far more likely to careen into homes and businesses than even a major highway pileup.
Exactly! So tell me the down side. :)
