And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Personally, Armstrong doing that would have been much more memorable than what he said....even given that what he did say was iconic! It would have been the greatest joke EVER!!!!
There's no way the nuts in the UFO community.....and there are many.....would've let that slide as a joke....even some of the serious researchers would've had trouble letting that one go....
What bullshit. Armstrong's "small step" comment was scripted by NASA long before the alleged moon landing. He got his line wrong.... it was written as "one small step for a man".
But then Armstrong wasn't very good at following the script. After a couple of disastrous interviews upon return to earth he suddenly became a "recluse". Armstrong may have been a great pilot but he certainly was a lousy actor.
Neil could have asked Mike on the open line, "Are you a Turtle?"
ReplyDeleteA guaranteed drink back on Earth because there's no way Mike would have given the correct response, "you bet your sweet ass I am."

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the "Good luck Mr. Gorsky, wherever you are" story.
ReplyDeleteIf that's true that's brilliant.
ReplyDeletethat's a different view of Armstrong than that first man movie.

ReplyDelete...except Collins would have said "Mike" like God intended, not the currently popular "Mic," which should be pronounced "Mick."
