Once you go black ...

Black Krim Tomato -  I found one at the farmers market last weekend and it's now in the garden.  I'll report on whether it produces like this picture suggests it might.

  1. I am on my second year of growing Cherokee Purple. They are great. I grow about 5 other varieties too.

  3. Black Krim is very good. My favorite by far, though, is Chocolate Stripe. Great size and heavenly taste!

  4. I have been growing heirloom tomatoes from varieties from around the world. There is now comparison to modern commercial strains.

  5. In the Carolina's, we have the Cherokee Black...
Full of flavor and texture. Wonderful species.
Yours is probably very similar. I would incorporate
it into my garden planes if it works for your ao.

  6. I grew Black Russian's a few years ago. I would slice and dehydrate them as a snack. It was like eating sugar coated potato chips, and they were awesome. Grind them into powder, it made an amazing paste for salsas and dips. I got nothing out of the seeds the following year though, even though they weren't supposed to be hybrids.

  8. based on when I grew them, thats reasonably accurate. I prefer Black Plum tomatoes. Regardless, the black/purple strains are very tasty!
