I'd like to hear the explanation of how that happened

  1. It definitely looks like the tank field, over pressurized??? Not clear, maybe a spark in a tank with enough oxygen to blow??

  2. Forty years in the industry here, it's definitely the storage tanks, more than likely a short in one of the electric submerged pumps. Judging from the flames and flying manhole covers, the farthest away in the vid. Damn, that's funny.

  3. Gas vapors+? won't likely find out. Or, Hamas tunnel.

  4. When proper stoichiolmetric value meets electrical potential.

  5. Four seconds on the timestamp and parts are still raining down.

Given: an 80 lbs manhole cover requires 5 seconds to fall back to earth.
Solve: what is the amount of energy released in the explosion?

    1. A metric poop-load of energy.

      Did I get it right?

    2. That's not an equation. Not enough data.

  6. Heh! Yes, an almost empty fuel tank with a nice fuel/air mist mixture inside along with an overheated or sparky pump.

Most don't read the fine print on those pumps, but they say "do not allow pump to run tank dry, must be submerged for cooling and safety" or something pretty close to that.

I feel the sky tumbling down.
All were lucky Allah wasn't pissed at them.

  9. Electrical short circuit in an almost empty tank. Either a sub-pump or tank monitor shorted. Very unusual.
