And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
When I was on subs, ours was an olive color and we called it EB green. If I remember correctly it was good to about 250 psi. As always a fix-em-up for about anything.
There was a sea story in the shipyard at Bremerton that there was a hull penetration in one of the subs that was covered with EB green. The next shift painters painted the entire compartment. Said sub goes out for post refit trials. They figured this out at about 50' when saltwater started coming into the people tank. Of course it was a sea story...so let the buyer beware.
The day after the American Eagle ATR 72 rolled over and dove straight into the ground near Roselawn, Indiana I had the misfortune to be traveling with the wife to her folks in Toledo. Of course connection in Shitago on.... American Eagle ATR 72. Only 2 of the 30 or so flights were not canceled. Ours and the one next to us. We boarded, waiting nervously while the plane next to us was boarding. A truck pulled up and 2 guys got a big ladder and put it next to the tail. One crawled up and you guessed it. Pulled out silver tape and covered a 6 inch or so hole with it. The lady in front of us starting crying when I said to my wife they are putting duct tape on the other plane. A guy asked if maybe they did the same to ours? The crying lady wanted off but the door was shut and the engines were starting. The pilot landed really hot in Toledo and made an announcement about it. They canceled the return flight and went back empty. We ended up having to fly Delta back home.
Just finished reading the report on that accident. Seems that aircraft wasn't tested too well by the French(designers-builders)for extreme icing. Secondarily it seemed after the aircraft rolled the first time....the pilot put the thing back in autopilot! I'm not a pilot but if my car did some kind of a weird jiggle while in cruise control.....I would alertly drive that car with all 'hands-on-deck'!....for the whole rest of the trip.
If it can’t be fixed with duct tape it just can’t be fixed.
ReplyDeleteI might be able to tolerate seeing that out of the window, but if they start spraying WD-40 into the turbine, I'm outta here.
ReplyDeleteSpeed tape is awesome...

ReplyDeleteAirdale Navy referred to it as "Ordnance Tape."
