  4. I have a friend who's a physics teacher.

    He gets out the compressed nitrogen, and we make homemade ice cream in about 20 seconds.

    1. That's a good idea - also, dry ice is now pretty commonly available at a lot of the big grocery stores, where you buy a chunk by the pound. -110°F will chill quickly too....

    2. The faster it freezes, the smaller the ice crystals and the better the texture. These freezers are good at that, but liquid nitrogen is better.

  5. No, a traditional ice-cream maker has a crank handle. I ate that ice cream as a child.
