And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Never going to happen. In fact odds are good that in our lifetimes the criminals in power will totally eliminate cash. The goal is a 100% digital currency which will give them 100% control over everything.
That was my first thought as well.....They will put some trans thing that does left handed poetry about animals and rainbows on the face, rather than a person who should be there.
The 500 is needed but the 100 needs to be accepted more. I went to dinner with the wife to a decent restaurant where the bill was $73. I dropped a $100 bill and was informed that they did not take 100's. The manager got involved. He wanted me to pay with a card. I held my ground and finally told him that we were going to walk where he replied that he would call the cops. My reply was I offered payment in legal tender but the restaurant refused to accept it, free meal. He relented. I will not be going back there.
I have some sympathy for the establishment. $100's are the most commonly counterfeited (the cost of counterfeiting means more bang for their buck with bigger bills) Nevertheless, given the amount of inflation we had, $100's seem like they ought to be accepted more readily. There are devices to help detect counterfeits.
Those Federal Reserve Notes are NOT coming back, and truth be told we really do not want the Federal Reserve Note.
But, what is coming back is the US Treasury Dollar - backed by gold, and more. And NOT borrowed into existence - redeemable money just like before the Federal Reserve.
JFK's brief episode with the red seal US Treasury Dollar was immediately ended by LBJ, possibly before the plane landed bringing his body back from Dallas. Ron Paul's "End The Fed" is a must read which will explain the anon @ 4:53 comment above.
One of the reasons for such fiscal irresponsibly... tank the economy, usher in .gov digital allowance and 15 minute cities. No privacy, no property, no rights. Hell, we're halfway there already.
I remember the $500 bill being in circulation. Saw building contractors using them to settle monthly bills at the supply house my dad worked at in the 60's. Never saw the 1K or 10 K
I saw a $1000 note one time as the outer note in a guy’s money clip in about 1970. He pulled out the clip to pay for something and there were a few C-notes inside. At the time, I had no idea about these bills and it may have been a fake or just a feature of his money clip.
I returned from working in Switzerland with three one thousand dollar bills in the 1990s. When I took them to the bank, the teller -- who had been working there for decades -- told me that these were the first $1000 bills she had ever seen (but this was a small bank in a 200 person town in Iowa).
Sure, bring them back. But not as Federal Reserve Notes. Make them Silver Certificates. Make all paper currency silver certificates, and run the government such that they are actually backed by a sufficient amount of bullion. That's how you kill inflation and become a strong nation again.
We need these now because everything cost so much as the dollar is worth so much less since Joe printed so many.

ReplyDeleteThe Federal Reserve has a project to implement broadband everywhere in the country. I wonder why the Fed would be so interested in that?
DeleteEven if they did, they'd put some moron DEI face on the bills.

ReplyDeleteBret Maverick used to carry a thousand dollar bill pinned inside of his left lapel. That was his 'reserve currency'.
ReplyDeleteWith today's sophisticated computerized methods, counterfeiting would flourish.

ReplyDeleteThey are back, but they're all in Ukraiine
ReplyDeleteOr in a Paris bank after Mrs. Zelinsky paid cash for a half-million dollar Bugatti.
DeleteLife is good when you're a friend of Democrats.
We don't want or need FRNs. We need silver and gold backed notes.

ReplyDeleteI would rather have the one with Woodrow Wilson on it myself.
