And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Drone tech is making tanks much less effective, if not obsolete.
I was a US Marine tank commander in Vietnam. We now have a 400+ member USMC Vietnam Tankers Association that began 25 years ago in 1999. We conduct reunions every-other-year and produce a 48-page magazine that contains stories of our time in-country that our members write. A whole host of those back issues are posted on our website. We conduct video recorded personal interviews (over 100 are on our website and on You Tube) and we also conduct podcast interviews. You can visit our website at www.usmcvta.org.
How long before the boffins come up with a detection system (LIDAR or perhaps a system that listens for the frequency of the propellers) that controls a grenade launcher firing airburst shells? Over 10 years ago the Israelis began installing the Trophy system on their Merkavas to knock down incoming RPGs. Al_in_Ottawa
Drones may have the edge...for now. But that's temporary. It's a never ending game of catch up between attack and defense technology . Soon there will be effective counters for drones.
John, way to go! Great idea keeping all those vets in touch and organizing such a thing! With all of the issues veterans go through from time served in our armed forces, what you're doing is more important than ever. You men gave a lot to serve your country! It's nice that you're letting them know that they're not forgotten and what they did was important. Thank you for your service!
This poster is near to my heart.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Zimmy. There is an ancient saying: "When an old person (veteran) dies, a library burns to the ground."
