One cute little float plane. How much could one cost?

  1. Aircraft are like boats, if you have to ask you probably can't afford it...
Many years ago I sat in the back of an HU-16 while they did the run up & mag check thinking about the cost of the fuel used (115/145) just for the mag check.. that's when I realized I couldn't afford the gas & that's when gave up the dream of getting one and turning it into a flying RV.

    1. 100LL is the highest octane avgas you can buy now. You can still run an Albatross on it, but you have to be careful.

    1. As a question and get an answer (eventually)! Is the internet great or what? :-)

    2. If you're interested you can also learn who owns that specific aircraft:

    3. 1954 cessna 170B, looks likeEdo floats. Owner lives in Fairbanks, not far from where I live.

  4. I think that's a Cessna 170. In land based configuration it's a tail dragger. I went up in a land based one once upon a time with a Pilot who had been a Vietnam Veteran L19 birdog pilot doing forward air control in combat. That was a ride. Doing a tail slide is a unique sensation. I didn't lose my lunch so I passed the test.

  5. How much? I look on it like a child. The initial cost is moderate, but the upkeep and fuel might bankrupt you.

  6. "If it flies, f*ks or floats, rent it!" That thing flies and floats, must be super expensive.
