And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
saw one in the shop for 3500 back in 92-3 I think it was. and I did have a "new" credit card too. I do regret not grabbing it. last one I saw had a price of 40-50 grand on it.
Given the 82nd Airborne patch, I think the implication is that these are what the carried. IIRC the Johnson was used by the Marines in the Pacific, and never by US Airborne troops in Europe.
A co worker once upon a time was an MP and he really liked the M3 for Gate Sentry duty. He liked the fact that it was fairly light because they had to carry it all day and night also you might get in a close range firefight with someone in a vehicle and it was just about perfect for that.
what, no shotgun?
ReplyDeleteThe doggies who jumped out of perfectly well functioning airplanes did not need or want shotguns.
DeleteAnd not a H&K or SIG to be seen. However did the U.S. win that one without H&K and SIG?
ReplyDelete45 won two world wars; 9mm lost two world wars

DeleteOur USMC tanks in Vietnam had a "greasegun" as the onboard crew weapon. It was a total POS.
ReplyDeleteThe same was true in Army tanks through the '80s.
DeleteBy all accounts they were all still a POS.
A Thompson and a BAR, OTOH...
My Dad carried the Thompson from Omaha beach to Munich.
