  5. In 1981 you could buy a Thompson M1A1 for 600$ plus tax stamp. It's 20k plus now. If I only knew then what I know now

    1. saw one in the shop for 3500 back in 92-3 I think it was. and I did have a "new" credit card too. I do regret not grabbing it. last one I saw had a price of 40-50 grand on it.

    1. Given the 82nd Airborne patch, I think the implication is that these are what the carried. IIRC the Johnson was used by the Marines in the Pacific, and never by US Airborne troops in Europe.

  7. Our USMC tanks in Vietnam had a "greasegun" as the onboard crew weapon. It was a total POS.

      By all accounts they were all still a POS.

  9. A co worker once upon a time was an MP and he really liked the M3 for Gate Sentry duty. He liked the fact that it was fairly light because they had to carry it all day and night also you might get in a close range firefight with someone in a vehicle and it was just about perfect for that.
