Too Close To The Creek, But Still Nice

  1. Friend had a cabin just south of Stroudsburg PA on 191. Right next to a roaring stream. You wouldn't believe how loud it was. Thinking to myself, "how the hell am I going to sleep here?" It was one of the best nights sleeping i ever had. Gone now, some asshole burned it down.

  2. At least be smart enough to build it on the high side of the creek.

  3. Speaking as someone who's grandfather built a cabin by a river in the northern woods of Maine in the 1940's - which was still standing in the late 1980's, the cabin pictured above was built in precisely the right place. Being on the inside of the curve means that it will only be undermined by that stream if it forms an oxbow lake that doesn't put the cabin on an island. This'll give them plenty of time to enjoy it.
