Large Log. Redwood Construction Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Georgia Pacific when they were operating out of Eureka.
In my particular case as a driver I've been paid all four ways, while being paid by footage or weight came in the form of being paid percentage of the truck's gross.
In the truck's case I was never on a job where the truck was paid by the hour. Interestingly, probably the best money I ever made was in '79, when the truck was paid $370 a day while the logger was paying for the fuel. I was being paid 25% of that $370.
I've got old paycheck stubs from '76-'77, when I was being paid $5.50 an hour. Adjusted for inflation that works out to about $28 an hour, which is pretty close to what a log truck driver makes today.
Were you paid by the load, the hr, the wt or bd ft?
