And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I don't know how I ever missed it as a kid (or maybe just don't remember it), but I was watching "Them !" last night on the movie channel, old 1950s sci-fi about ants around a nuclear test site that became giant marauders, attacking humanity. Apparently it was the very first of the whole rash of 'nuclear freak, giant monster' critter movies that came out around then.
Anyway, I was amazed at all the stars that kept popping up. James Whitmore had a lead part, as did Edmund Gwen (the Santa Claus from Miracle on 34th St). But then, there was James Arness (Gunsmoke)! Then, Leonard Nimoy (Spock)! Then Fess Parker (Daniel Boone)! Then Dub Taylor (look him up, you'll know him)! Couldn't believe it, one after the other.
Apparently Arness and Parker both got their subsequent famous parts based on their performances in Them !.
I bought this same movie poster at an antique show in the 80's but have never seen the movie either. I suspect A print no longer exists. One notable cast member was "TV" Tommy Ivo, the drag racer. Bubbarust

I do remember Them! That was a long time ago...
DeleteIf it came out in 2023 it would be called "they/them"
