    1. To minimize changes in the Center of Gravity vs Center of Lift. The front cockpit is closest to the CG so changes in weight there don’t affect the handling or stability of the plane as much as changes further aft would. Putting the pilot in the aft cockpit makes this easier since the plane will always have a pilot, but may or may not have passengers.

    2. That is done in order to scare the bejeezus out of the poor person in the front seat who is pulling all kinds of G's and has no idea what's going on. I have had it done it to me - and it works. You WILL become disoriented and you may become pretty sick.

  2. Training the new guys. They need all the visibility they can get. Plus there may be a center of gravity issue. You can have a guy up front if there’s someone in the back but not the other way ‘round
