One of the most astonishing examples of renaissance goldwork in the world, this Morion, which was made by the goldsmith Pierre Reddon, belonged to King Charles IX of France.
This piece was made in France, ca. 1555-1560, and is housed at the Musée du Louvre.
All made from pillaged gold I'm sure. Still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA lost art and craftmanship
ReplyDelete---Prolly NOT hecho in china....
ReplyDeleteA golden, high crested, ceremonial helmet no doubt. Not suited for battle.
ReplyDeleteTechnically that is very skilled workmanship. But my vote goes to Benvenuto Cellini for beauty and technical mastery as well as living the total bad boy life. An autobiography that is well worth reading.
