And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Inside of the White House gutted during the Truman administration so the interior could be reconstructed from 1949-1952.
It's when they added the steel rebar-reinforced concrete walls, purpose-built electricity, the bunker, and a host of other upgrades from the original termite-eaten about-to-collapse design, then painstakingly rebuilt the insides to nearly match the original floorplan.
As seen above, they gutted it to the outer walls, with that bulldozer and dump truck for scale.
The Trumans lived across the street at Blair House for the remodel, which is where and when Puerto Rican separatists nearly gunned him down, stepping out on one of his daily neighborhood walks.
American Gunfight by Stephen Hunter tells the story of the P-R separatists, but I don't believe Truman was out for a walk when they tried to shoot their way into Blair House.
A couple of years ago I watched a movie about foreign terrorists shooting up the White House. After killing most of the good guys, they were hunting the one good guy who would be the hero. After failed searches, the head bad guy said to look in the spaces between the walls created when Truman rebuilt the White House.
That's what it'll look like when Demo-Pedo Joe finishes his tour.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Trumans' remodel is nothing compared to bidens' gutting of the White House.
ReplyDeleteSo true.
DeleteThat is one heck of a picture!
ReplyDeleteThat was probably when they added the underground bunker.

DeleteSo much for the Lincoln bedroom.
ReplyDeleteReminiscent of the inside of Sleepy Joe’s head.

What was the name of that flik?
DeleteOlympus Has Fallen
DeleteDecent movie, good action, unapologetic white man as the hero.
They turned it into a trilogy: London Has Fallen followed by Angel Has Fallen. Surprisingly, both sequels were decent movies as well.

Jimmy Hoffa is also buried there.
ReplyDeleteBuried there? I thought he was still running it from there.
ReplyDeleteQuite the chimney running up that wall.
