  1. Why isn't the bridge straight?

    1. I suspect because it was too rocky to excavate and not necessary, since no long vehicles were going to cross it, they being unknown to man at construction time.

    2. What's the matter? Homophobe😊
They just built a new bridge across the Mississippi a little south of me. Beautiful bridge, mega price.
I'll bet that this crooked bridge is still passing traffic long after the new wonder bridge over the Mississippi is gone.

    3. I would think it is more stable with the angles added. I suspect that winter/spring floodwater flow may be a factor in the design. Looks like a combo of concrete and rock. Romans had concrete back in the day.

  2. Sorry to complain, but I am totally unable to read the new comment format.

    Anybody else?

  3. Hello. - Canada here. - The Romans had concrete that hardened underwater. They used volcanic ash in their concrete, apparently. They built to last! l stood once on the Appian way. None of our roads will still be here or usable two thousand years from now.
