Looking Good

  1. The V-22 of government overrun projects without the wind turbine blades. Super high priced, over promised, under performing, cross dressing tranny of the aircraft world.

  2. These 2 are out of Eielson AFB, just a few miles down the road from my house. They’re seriously loud. I grew up around F-4’s & F-106’s and worked around F-15’s, F-16’s, F-111’s & countless others…these things are way louder than any of those.

    1. I was born on Ft. Wainwright when my father was stationed at Eielson in the mid 60s and lived in Moose Creek back in the early 80s. Our house was a bit off to the left of a straight line from the runway and most planes would just be in to their turns as they went over. Good memories.

    2. I spent about a month TDY at Eielson for a Red Flag exercise. Mid January to mid February. Wow, it got cold -40F at night!
My home base had a Bomb Wing; if the wind blew the wrong way the B-52's would take off right over the barracks. Talk about noise.

  3. The government programs whether military or civil (such as NASA) are a feeding frenzy for the bureaucracies of the hierarchies of contractors, sub- and sub-sub- contractors, lobbyists, legislators and their constituents, etc. etc. Elon Musk beats NASA because he does not have to feed the herd.

  4. I have family that lives a ways out on the final approach to Carswell Field NAS in Ft. Worth, and it's fun watching all the birds coming in to land. Lots of fighters flying in formation, lots of heavy transporters, and the occasional B-52 - gotten some practice on ID'ing them by silhouette. Loud is the word, all right.

  5. Didn't read the "sound Of Freedom" in any of the comments, I'm near Moody in south Georgia and as "we" refer to the sound

  6. The second-best fighter in that contest, but helpfully produced in the home state of the head of the Senate Armed Services Committee at the time.

No points for guessing why it won.
