As a(n admittedly biased Brit) I always noted as how much of The US seemed to operate, interpret, enforce laws/regulations in a much more ‘Germanic’ (the whole “That which is not expressly allowed, is verboten” as opposed to the Anglo “That which is not expressly forbidden, is allowed”) manner than others. And yes, The South is better, which is why I always flew into GWB International (Lord save me from NY!).

  3. There is this video of 2 Conferderate Veterans that was filmed in 1929 and they consistently refer to the Union Army as "The Dutch". We are so far from understanding what was going through peoples minds during the Civil War it's ridiculous. In their minds the were fighting the Dutch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTf44Wwa2Fo

    1. It was Germans, they got the Dutch label from Deutschland (what the germans call Germany)

    2. That was my point though maybe i didn't make it very well. I guess from a Confederate point of view we've had 3 wars against the Germans!
