Oh, my

  1. Every time I get any kind of injury whatsoever, people ask me what happened. My standard response is that I was in Baja trying out for the Moto Guzzi factory team and dumped the bike. That mostly shuts ‘em up. Or, people call out my BS and I shift to plan B, and say it was a bar fight. Folks know I don’t drink, but let that one go with a laugh.

  2. I rode one a few times in Europe, belonged to a RAF aircraft repairer. He was very gracious to let me ride it.

  3. Looks to be the OEM forks, which were trash. Adding air caps doesn't help. Too wimpy, with a very poor damper cartridge inside. I don't see a steering damper, which it desperately needs (the oem damper is missing).

I raced an 850 LeMans for a few years. Judicious bracing of the swingarm, frame-to-trans, and behind the steering head really improves the handling, but that fork pretty much wastes the effort. Astounding power available from that engine. Could spin the tire in 3rd gear. Required LOTS of welding of the head to change the ports. Stock head is junk. After doing the heads, the guy refused to do any more Guzzis. And this was a guy who changed the valve angles in Ducati Desmo heads.

Wish I had copies of film of my AMA races for corner #7 at the old Laguna Seca course, and corner #10 at Sears Point.
