And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'm guessing there were still casualties even if they were buttoned up.

ReplyDeleteEven if nothing else, taking out the main armament removed the threat of the tank.
ReplyDeleteOdds are there was a round loaded that cooked-off near simultaneously with the hit.
ReplyDeleteA round if loaded would be in the breech inside the turret so I think without experience it would have been safe. Guess is a 88mm that did it in
