And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
KC135s are slowly being replaced by KC46, at least here at McConnell AFB in Wichita. My Dad used to wrench on the old B47s in the 50s. There is a B47 displayed near the front gate of McConnell AFB. I think of Dad every time I drive by it. -Snakepit
See one often driving by the static display area at Boeing Museum of Flight on one side of the road, and a line of KC-46s on the other in the military flight test and finish area of Boeing Field. Lots to see at the Flight Museum.
Dad was Radar/Navigator/Bombardier in B-47's in the 380th Bomber Wing in Plattsburgh, New York. And yes - thats a probe type refueling port. When he transfered out of SAC and we moved to Texas I never saw another B-47 till I was doing field support engieering and went to Altus AFB Oklahoma on a trip to fix a C-5B. There one sat in a park. Still there as far as I know.
There is a B-47 sitting on a pad visible from I-95 at the 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA, very near Savannah. I see it every time I drive down that way. The RB-47 reconnaissance versions did some serious work in the cold war, overflying Russia on many occasions.
Yes.
ReplyDeleteB-47
Beautiful teardrop fuselage.
Thought that was a B-47. Beautiful aircraft.
ReplyDeleteIf the Eco-Wackos get their way he'll be looking for a KC-135 Recharging Station.
