And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My first car was a 1962 Corvair Spyder. Turbocharged, 4speed. Very nice condition when I bought it in 1970 for $300. Sold it a year later for $500 and bought a 66 Mustang convertible 289 hipo for $1000.
Since I was just out high shool, I purchaced a 1964 VW tansporter an drove it till i was drafted into the Army. My wife had a '51 VW Beetle, with split duel pane rear windows, along with semaphore
Gee... a dollar in quarters from those days is worth $17.60 today, so that $3550 price goes up quite a bit. Just shy of $62,500.
ReplyDeleteI'm old enough to remember Corvairs, but not any that looked like that.

ReplyDeleteUnsafe at any speed.
ReplyDeleteOwned a 66 and a 68, one of the most miserable cars you'll ever truly love!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten that they made a Corvair van. I bet it did great in the snow.
ReplyDeleteElkhart IN is where nearly all of the camping/travel trailers and RV's are built today.
