And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Both ships with square sails set for dead astern wind, and taut canvas, and passing at 180 degrees. What's wrong with this depiction? I'm thinking the artist knows sailing ships, but not sailing.
I'm with you Will, this does not add up at all. Aside from the diametrically opposed winds indicated by the sails, both ships are listing as though the wind was coming from the right as well.
An amazing amount of power generated by wind against sails, square-rigged or otherwise.
