Thank You, Sir.
10-year-old Kaylee Rogers, who has autism and ADHD, leads the Killard House School Choir in the singing of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
Who can deny that religion can uplift, relieve, and motivate we clever apes to some of the highest notes of spiritual and artistic expression to be seen on our earth?
I have to comment about this. The video was about five years ago. I found it because my great-granddaughter was singing Hallelujah and I asked her where she had heard it. So we found it on YouTube. Lots of amazing and great things here, reaffirms my faith that a lot of people are still wonderful human beings. Kaylee's school and her music teacher. She appeared on Steve Harvey's TV show "Little Big Shots" with the music teacher and her mom. Mom is an amazing person to support and encourage her daughter. Mom interviewed on the show and credits music as being a great positive influence on Kaylee. I agree with your comments about religion and add music and human kindness to that equation. Now go please and enjoy your Christmas. And a nod to the Irish, great folks in general. I'll shut up now. (Deplorable Mikey in FL)
ReplyDeleteCW, some nice additions to what Gerard posted, including your words. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteCorrection, the Cohen version of Hallelujah is blasphemous, imho. The version that Kaylee Rogers sings is the later Cloverton version which is Christian based.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to edit my profile on here. Carl Smith
I completely agree. Cohen's original is not Christian and I find it very disturbing.
DeleteThis, however, is quite beautiful, for a lot of reasons.
Carl and Mark, the simple fact is that Leonard Cohen WROTE the song. If you don't like what he wrote, then go write your own song.
DeleteThe Cloverton version is also beautiful, but he took Cohen's song. It isn't a Christian song because the original songwriter wasn't a Christian.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful rendition of the song. And the photo of the mother and baby really strikes a chord with me, not sure why, but it's peaceful and beautiful. Thank you.

That which lifts the spirit is seldom of a religious nature these days.
