  2. Five 5/8ths scale prototypes were built. The last of them was owned by Planes of Fame Museum. It was destroyed in a crash a few years ago. The pilot did not survive.

  6. Test pilot Capt. Glen Edwards and his crew died in 1948 testing that beast.

    Edwards AFB is named in his honor.

  7. Jack Northrup designed the flying wing and when it was cancelled he eventually was driven from the company he founded, Northrup aviation. Before he died, he was taken to the secret hanger where the B2 was being finished and the new B2 was built almost to the same exact dimensions that his flying wing was. A vindication for his vision that was ahead of the technology of his day.
