And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I had one in my dark green metalflake 66 Mustang converible 289 hi-po back in 1972. I paid $1000 for that ride and it was in mint condition, wish I still had it.
Ghost sniper I wish I had that 55 right now. My big sister had a 70 Mustang. 302 4 barrel with 3 speed on the floor. My younger sister had a 65 Mustang with aftermarket 4 speed on the floor. Dad bought them cars for my sisters. I paid for my 55 Chevy with money I earned working at a lumber yard.
When my brother and I were KidSicles™ and Dad took us into Pep Boys, we saw those barefoot gas pedals shelved right beneath the displays of skull shifter knobs and the assortment of dice, car-logo, and cheesecake/nudie suicide knobs.
Anybody remember the TV Commercial for a Gas Station, where the young guy pulls up to the pump and starts digging in his pockets for money, then asks his girl friend if she has any money and he says "I'm a little short on cash right now" the camera pans down to his right foot and he moves his foot to the side to revel the Chrome Foot Gas Pedal. The girl says "I found a quarter" The Gas Station Attendant walks up he was in White with a funky little hat, So the Kid says "I'll take 36 cents...make it the good stuff" The basis of the Commercial was the SERVICE, you were a valued customer even if you only spent 36 cents.
Oh wow, I have not seen one of those in 30 years! (or more). Now I need one!

Had one in my first car a 55 Chevy 2 door. That was way back in 1976. I paid $150 for that car.

ReplyDeleteYounger Sis couldn't master a standard transmission so Dad put a 4 speed automatic transmission in that Mustang for her.
