And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Give 325 grain cast bullets over 13 grains of Trail Boss a try. At 600 yards I have time to put my No.1 down and pick up the binoculars to see where my shot lands. It's a hoot.
You can shoot 45-70 rounds in your 45-90 rifle. I don't know about the 110 and up. I once found an old old spent shell laying on the ground in the mountains in Colorado and it turned out to be a 45-65. It had probably been laying there for 100 years.
The cartridge on the right is a .450 Nitro Express. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.450_Nitro_Express Case length, 3.9". .45-70 Gov't case length is 2.105". Both are rimmed cartridges.
If I were a .45, I'd want to be the one on the right. Just sayin' ...
ReplyDelete.45 ACP, 45 Colt, 45=70 Government. What's the one on the right?
ReplyDeleteDepending on the case length, it could be from a 45-90 to a 45-120
Delete45-90 or 45-110. I have the 45-110 rifle. You only really want to shoot it once, and I'm a fairly stout guy.
ReplyDeleteWinchester also made a 50-110 chambered 1886 model rifle. I can only imagine the kick you'd get from that.
DeleteI have a Ruger #3 in 45-70. I absolutely love this rifle. When target shooting I use cowboy loads that a quite tame as far as recoil is concerned.
