  2. Then you find yourself in traffic, nowhere to go, and notice that on the truck in front!

  3. Been there. Done that. Got the Tshirt to prove it.
I had one about half that size blow a hole right up through the trailer floor when I hit 60 MPH.

  4. Driving in Europe 45 years ago I noticed many trucks/lorries lacked mud-guards. One day I was driving on a highway in a line of traffic doing about 55MPH. I was about 3 vehicles behind a mud-flapless truck and sure enough a stone the size of a large potato was launched from between its tires. I followed the arc and saw it heading for a landing right between my eyes. It hit the windscreen and was only stopped because of the laminated safety glass. It was inevitable. I needed a skivvies change.

    1. Same thing happened to me, but the projectile was a lot smaller. I watched the windshield spiderweb before my very eyes, almost dead center. I saw it coming and there was nothing I could do but lean over to the left.

  5. Speaking of these signs on trucks - Stay Back 100 Feet. How about they get some mud flaps that actually work.

  6. Might cause a wheel balance issue.

  7. I have seen a few trucks with a steel plate suspended between the dual tires to knock that sort of problem loose each revolution.
BUT these were dump trucks at mines.
I don't know if state DOT types would allow that modification on an over the road truck.
