And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
First "real" car I ever drove was a '63 Corvair Monza. "Road tested" it after minor service in auto shop class. Lucky to dodge GTA charge. '68-'69 Corsa was a temptation but the reality of cost-of-living for this Tip 'n Ring telephone man said no. Often thought Corvair trunks would make a decent mobile ice chest.
First car was a '65 Corvair Corsa (4 one barrels/140 hp) convertible (dark green/black top), 4 speed. Have a fond teenage memory of some "dick" in a Porsche 356 chasing me down a country road. I knew about the two hard 90 degree turns to go around the farm house. He didn't. Half an hour later on my return trip I got to wave to him as the tow truck was pulling his car out of the ditch.
65 and up Corvair?
ReplyDeleteAnd possibly a real Yenko Stinger.
ReplyDeleteThe rarest Stinger of all:

grinch?
ReplyDeleteI had a 63 Spyder way back when. Yeah, chrome turbo, convertible, 4 speed, red/white.
My uncle had a black Spyder. Same print out on the options-loaded.
DeleteBut it was still a Corvair.
How long did it take you to find all the gears? Mine had a pudding stick for a shifter.

ReplyDeleteMy mom had a Corvair Monza convertible, light blue/black. Shift lever was a toggle on the dash. A very neat car.
ReplyDeleteThat sums it up nicely.
ReplyDeleteKen block. It’s a modified mustang.
ReplyDeleteCIII
Owned 2, a 65 and a 68. Still miss the maddening little devils
