And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
(DeplorableFloridaMikey). I always had a huge crush on Diana Rigg, as Emma Peel on The Avengers. She had it all, Intelligence, class, beauty, marital arts master and great sense of humor, and to top it off drove a Lotus Elan convertible at great speed, all of which seems to be lacking today in TV today, unfortunately I think it aired on Saturday nights at 9 PM and I would postpone going out drinking with my college friends to stay in and watch the show. Ah, I'm getting old.
My sons were college age when "Game Of Thrones" was on and they would have watching parties here at the house. I knew Diana Rigg at a glance in that show and she must have been pushing 80 when that was filmed. What a phenomenal actress!
I had moments when I wished Diana would pose for Play Boy centerfold just to see what she looked like with the layers of cloth peeled away from Mrs. Peel. But then I came to the conclusion she was way too classy to go down that path. None of the other fantasy females in my life topped her.
Watched her standing next to a six foot fence in one episode....she lifted her leg and climbed over the fence with the ease and grace of a feline....grace and class....
Her character in the Avengers was Emma Peel, aka man appeal. I can only agree with that.
ReplyDeleteClass, Beauty, Skill, Intelligence. Easily rounds the bases and slides into home.

ReplyDeleteMiss Parker from 'The Pretender' had her moments.
DeleteNo where near the duration of Miss Peel, but she still pops in to my mind from time to time.
Class, Beauty, Skill, Intelligence … and heartbreaker.
ReplyDeleteThat's from the first episode she appeared in, s'posedly.
ReplyDeleteStill a hart throb to me. Rest in peace Diana.
ReplyDeleteLet’s not forget the only Bond girl to marry James Bond as Tracey Draco.
ReplyDeleteSurprised it took so long to say this. I was reading the comments planning on saying the same thing. She was a classy beauty from beginning to end.
DeleteDid Bond not also marry Kissy Suzuki at the end of 'You Only Live Twice' in the book?

ReplyDeleteShe did things to a leather catsuit that were illegal in 34 states and 29 countries.
ReplyDeleteIf any actress on TV now had 1/10th her charm and class they'd be miles ahead of the rest of the pack.
Every 1960's teenage boy's (I resemble that remark) ultimate fantasy.
