Do such places really exist?

  1. Whenever I hear the term 'safe harbor" again, I will think of this place.

  2. I wonder how it would hold up to 100 foot tidal wave.....

    1. Not well, but then again, if it's an atoll in the Pacific, usually tidal waves aren't an issue.

And, from the looks of it, it's in the Med, and they don't get big waves in the Med.

    2. And, according to the below, it's in the Med.

I should have said they don't usually get big waves. Once in a while, though... like when Crete got hit and wiped out the Minoan civilization.

So, well, the place would well if the wall hit on the cliff side, as long as it didn't broach or go over the cliff wall. If down the throat of the cove, they're all dead, gone, washed away, become the new Minoans...

  5. Maybe they do, but if you finally discover one and a little runt named tattoo runs out to greet you it may not be what you think paradise really is.

  8. Yep, looks like some place on Italy's Ligurian coast - I think Portofino since Cinque Terre is more open as far as I remember...

  9. I still remember visiting a small clothing shop in Portofino. A Brioni polo shirt was 600 Euro, I put it back very carefully.

  11. Beautiful coastal villages, which have been there for hundreds of years.
    Utterly charming.
Don't go swimming, and make sure your seafood is thoroughly cooked.
You can probably relax a little bit if you can verify that their sewage is properly treated.
    Speaking from experience.
