    2. I think your "glassies" are what we called "puries".
But don't forget the "cat's eyes".

  4. Stick a pencil in the front and make circles on the blades.
Then get your ass beat when your dad got home.
But it was fun while it lasted.

  5. Growing up in Detroit, 64 now, we had what was called a 'whole house fan'. Big blades, slow moving, pulled air up and out. We would sing into it and you could hear it halfway down the block. I can still hear my old man yelling, 'STOP SINGING INTO THE FAN!"

  6. always fun when the girls hair got sucked into the fan.

when I was a kid, id stay the weekend with my best friend, his family all lived in one valley that his grandfather had purchased in the 30s, and they had a place in the woods they called"the dump" its where 5 families took all their old appliances and furniture. when we were about 10 or 11 we would go out to the dump with a single shot .22 rifle and a box of matches.

if we couldnt put a hole in it, we'd try to set it on fire.
you have to shoot a big old 70s console TV alot with a 22 to get the screen to break. and then when you take it apart, there is miles of super strong copper wire wrapped around the picture tube. and milk jugs make an awesome sound when you suspend them in a tree and set them on fire. each flaming drop sounds like a rocket taking off as it falls to the ground.
then we got motorcycles a year later.

can you imagine parents today letting a pack of 12 year old boys go off all day by themselves on Honda XL-70s and Yamaha YZ-80s and Honda Trail 90s ? with no GPS, no cell phones, nothing but soda bottles of extra gas tied across the back and a bag of PB&J sandwiches.
