And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I don't know why station wagons aren't more popular. When on vacation years ago, my wife's VW Passat Wagon was fantastic for vacationing. Having small kids, they could spread out when parked in shade. When I was a kid, no seat belts required, we were all over the place when it came to a station wagon or truck bed
I have been wondering for years why station wagons (full-size, mind) fell into disfavour. The most practical, family-friendly, useful vehicle... SUVs just don't cut it. Sort of like built-in furniture. People don't buy homes, they buy investments with an eye toward re-sale. I really miss the time when people took a longer view of things, and bought quality. I miss my mom's 1979 Buick Electra wagon, for example. What a beautiful car that was.

no one ever wants to drive the same kind of vehicle their parents drove. thats why wagons went out of style, plus the fedgov basically outlawing full size V-8 body on frame wagons with all the CAFE regs.
If I remember correctly, this car was built by boyd Coddington while chip Foose was still on his payroll. I see to recall it was built in the 90s.
Studebaker never made a starlight wagon, let alone a woodie starlight. Somebody had a vision, and a bigger checkbook than I do. I have checks, and the overdraft is only 25 bucks .... hmmmm.
I'd drive that. I'm surprised you did not say that yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Had no idea Studebaker made that.
ReplyDeleteHad my doubts but I found some pics from the '40's, so I guess so.
ReplyDeleteTat's a nice looking car!

ReplyDeleteI had a 9 passenger Chev-wagon with wonderful bench seats. All 5 kids found a little place all for themselves(unless they felt 'frisky')!
ReplyDeleteLove that StudeWoody!
