    1. That's a Crusader. Look at the top of the tail and the undercarriage. No idea whether that's Clemenceau or Foch.

  3. WWII fighter pilots had to find their carrier after a mission, which moved continuously after they were launched, not necessarily in a straight line. in a radio blackout. simply extraordinary humans.

    1. Carrier landing can be stressful anytime but consider the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot,” and returning afterwards at night, no gas, radio silence. Now that's called flying with Iron Balls.
