Rigby .450 Nitro Express Farquharson rifle

Man, look at the length of those rounds!  I don't care how big and heavy your Farquharson is, that's gonna kick like a mean ol' mule.

  1. Too bad they had to ruin it with putting that word "SAFE" in there.

    1. That thing is unsafe at any speed. Drop it on a toe, and it'll pinch it off. I wants it.

  2. Designed to stop a bull elephant in its tracts with a single round.

    1. Heck, I paid $20 for 1. Needed it for the collection.

  4. That rifle is a work of art. I would think ammo that rare would be a lot more that $110/20. Hell, I paid $88 for a box of .338 Lapua a couple years ago.

  5. NOT a truck gun. That is meant more for admiration than actually firing. The artisans that have the patience and skill to build that are rare nowadays. Thank you for the photo of it.

  6. Still on my wish list. Lovely firearm. True art meets function.

  7. I shoot a Ruger #1 (single shot falling block) chambered in .458WINMAG. 500grain bullets provide just plain brutal recoil. I cannot imagine buying such exotic ammunition off the shelf. I load my own.

  8. indeed, will never afford a real one, but I do have a ruger No1 in that action - mine in the manly .303 british, first new rifle chambered in that calibre for 40 years! I imagine the 450 nitro has a bit of a push to it with 500 grain slugs - Ive loaded a few 500 grainers into my 45/70 and it was Nasty! I do 350gn over black powder these days, far more fun. Once you have your 450 nitro brass I imagine it lasts for ever with reloads, so price per broken shoulder comes down a bit! :)

  9. My 45/70 is a light sporter built on a Martini action, single shot, far too light for a 500grain round! as Anon said Brutal.
