And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I worked with a guy in high school had this red one (69), white interior and white convertible top. Little unremarkable guy, worked in the meat department but he was witty and had a different date every weekend. Always thought that tach on the hood was both neat and a little ridiculous.
When I was in the Air Force my first Chief had a 68 convertible that had a re-badged Chevy 250 Overhead-Cam I-6 that had a Weiand supercharger on it. That engine was Pontiac blue with a Pontiac valve/cam cover but was all Chevy inside. He bought it from a dealership that had a speed shop. It was the car he bought when he got back from Vietnam.
My Dad ordered a 69 from the factory with the 400/4 speed and the hood tach. That dark Pontiac metallic green. With his new wife and us 4 boys crammed into the back he opened it up on a long straightaway and hit 140. I was sitting right behind him watching the telephone poles whizz by and looking at the speedo. He raced in the 60's. The speedo stopped at 160 if I remember right and it would do every bit of that when he was in it by himself.
I have a 68 400 Convertible, deluxe, automatic, April Gold, Ivory top and seats, sitting in my garage. Bought it 20 years ago from the original owner, a grey haired old lady, down the street. 92k original miles, no leaks, runs great, original condition. Wish I had the hood tach. California car now in Utah.
Had 1 in blue.
