  2. designed by Edward Turner, like most Britbike motors of the era. designed to run a generator in bombers.

  3. Bonneville. AMAL Monoblock carbs, SLS front brake. The 67 I rode did not have the tank rack so probably a 65 or 66. Fast, light and aiile. The electrics were a weak area, made by Lucas the infamous 'prince of darkness'.

    1. I rode a 72 BSA Rocket 3 back in the day. It would perform even with my buddies Norton Combat Commando, but the Rocket 3 was a bit of a truck compared with the Triumph's. Rode a friends Bonneville and was very impressed with the agility.
My buddie's Norton had a weak clutch so he would do kill button shifts. Loved the sound of it though. Nothing sexier than British high performance machinery.

    2. PS, Lucas electrics. One day on the BSA, some wires started smoking. Positive Ground. The fix was to cut off about 4 feet of wire and reattach ends to frame. Ha.
