I guess no air filter is needed

    Even a decent filter degrades performance 5-7%

    1. K&M filter on my modified actually boosted RPM by a couple hundred at idle....

  2. It should be okay. Once in motion, any air being drawn into the carbs will have to turn 180 degrees. Air is very light and changes direction easily while the dust floating in with its greater inertia doesn't change direction as quickly. Many aircraft engine intakes, particularly helicopters, are designed with inertial separation in mind. Even my Kubota has swirlers in the air filter housing to separate the dust.
