  1. Does he have supplemental oxygen? Don't see a mask - is the cabin pressurized?

    1. Gliders are not pressurized. Don't know about EU/German regs, but here in the US you need supplemental oxygen for crew any time you are operating for more than a half hour above 12.5K ft. Full time above 14K ft. Simple canulas will suffice below 17K ft, above that you need positive pressure full face mask.

  2. That's interesting...in my day it was full-time at or above 15,000, cannnuli only to 18,000, though I used to wear mine to as much as 22,000 (with accompanying dizziness, I must admit).

  3. I think the FAA revised their norms about 25 yrs ago. Because I need all the help I can get we turn it on anytime we go above 10K ft, otherwise my O2 saturation will drop to about 85 within ten minutes.
