Those people at that campground must have been a bit startled.

  3. Nice Photoshop composite render, but no dice.
Starting with the mirror of the wingtip not matching the one above it.
    But a good effort.

  4. The water would be reflecting the UNDERSIDE of the wing, considering the bank angle.

    1. No, it wouldn't . Go find a mirror. There is the start of a wake and water vapor behind the campers. If it's a photoshop, it's very good with great attention to detail.

  5. Whatever, real or not.....what a cool rendering....and the thought of what would be going through their minds....I once had an F-104 land on the runway next to where I was working, and I never heard it coming til the last second....startled?....to say the least....

    1. We were doing training in 29 Palms calling in aviation assets for bombing runs. We were complaining that the planes were 2000 feet above us and the pilot must have heard us over the radio. We were on the top of a peak overlooking a valley where we were targeting old hulks scattered about as targets. As we called in the last strike, the plane came in about 20 feet over the top of us and dove into the valley and did some real close air support. Scared the living shit out of us as we had no idea he was going to do that! The shock wave that followed took everything that was not tied down and threw it all ove the side of the mountain. We got back on the radio and told him "Now THAT is close air support!!!"

  6. Here in rural Ohio, a local Air Guard base has a squadron of C-130's, and it uses our neighborhood for nap-of-earth practice. You cannot hear a C-130 until it has gone past. The pilots like to rattle our windows.

  7. 1973 just outside of Tampa Bay, our fishing boat got overflown by four MiGs going very fast. Cuban markings. very very low. MiG-23 or -27. left smoke on the water as they turned west. the gulls stayed on the water until the MiGs were past. could have been messy. Coasties were not amused when we talked to them on the radio. we carried loaded cameras after that.
